Base36 Technical Interview Process

At Base36, there’s a lot we’re proud of, and our over 90% success rate on placed candidates is near the top of that list. This success rate, and ultimately our reputation as a technical recruiting firm, comes down to our two-step, time-tested interview process. The process allows us to find, test, and then place only the best technical minds.

Our Time-Tested Assessment Process

Step 1: Seek

Based on our initial conversation, we shift through thousands of candidates in our databases. We narrow our search to dozens of near-matches that meet your specific IT staffing needs.

Step 2: Interview 1

We take these near-matches and start the rigorous two-part interview process. During the first interview, we ask candidates about their personality, career goals and employer preferences, as well as basic technical screening questions. This line of questioning allows us to not only understand their technical capabilities, but also allows us to see whether or not they have the hunger and drive that you desire. We understand that you’ve set a high bar, and we use this interview to check that our candidates have met it. Only the best fits for your organization move on to the next round of interviews.

Step 3: Interview 2

Those who passed the first interview move on to the second-round interview where their technical skills are evaluated. At this point, the candidates will do their job in front of the interviewer – a programmer will code, a QA analyst will create test plans, and DBAs will execute backups. This exercise, which tests their ability to code without tools and to think critically, prevents 95.5% of candidates from moving on.

Step 4: Recommendations

We record our impressions and those of their references into an easily digestible packet. By listing honest descriptions of their strengths and weaknesses, as determined through the assessment process, you can make an informed IT staffing decision.
