Supervisor of Clinical Virology

The Supervisor of Clinical Virology will be responsible for providing assistance in planning, organizing, and preparing laboratory exercises in support of the Genomics Laboratory. The primary responsibility is to supervise laboratory personnel, overseeing clinical/production testing and troubleshooting issues if they arise. This position requires a high degree of technical abilities in molecular biology and virology. The position also requires administrative duties such as weekly laboratory updates, and management of laboratory inventory. This position will be 40hrs. / week.

The outcome of this role directly impacts human health and thus must meet the highest possible standards for quality and integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to maintaining and supervising clinical production/research turnaround time objectives, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Supervise the operations of the laboratory technicians ensuring proper allocation of personnel and resources to ensure set turnaround times for clinical/research projects.
• Maintain project and sample information, protocols, and experimental details through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Development of process control and QA/QC measures.
• Ensure personnel follows prescribed SOP's and practices to ensure compliance with CLIA/CAP certification.
• Provide weekly laboratory update reports to managers and CLD to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation to streamline the laboratory processes. This includes creating weekly/monthly reports on laboratory critical values to assist in noticing trends for remediation.
• Successfully sustain CLIA/CAP certification, including competency and proficiency assessments, training, and safety.
• Assists in training of clinical genomic technologists.
• Directly oversees efficiency, documentation, SOP’s, and general laboratory activity.
• Accurate and timely maintenance of operational metrics.
